Vivian Rodríguez, MSW, DCSW, CAC III
Vivian Rodríguez holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from City College of New York (1971) and a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Puerto Rico (1982). She has worked in both the United States and Puerto Rico, in community, government and private settings, offering services to a bilingual and multicultural clientele. She performed psychosocial evaluations of psychiatric patients for the Veterans Administration Hospital, and later worked at Fort Buchanan, an army base, where she worked with soldiers and their families. In 1982, Mrs. Rodríguez was elected First Vice President of the Colegio de Profesionales del Trabajo Social de Puerto Rico. She was the last Clinical Supervisor of the Drug and Alcohol Program at the Roosevelt Roads Naval Base before their closure.
In 1989, she founded her own company, Intercultural Counseling Associates, providing counseling, training and consulting services for a bilingual clientele and for many federal and private agencies, working extensively in Employee Assistance Programs. She has remained active in the Colegio de Profesionales del Trabajo Social de Puerto Rico, promoting standards and acceptance of clinical social work in Puerto Rico, and was a founding member of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association, Puerto Rico Chapter. She holds a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work granted by the National Association of Social Workers and is also a nationally qualified Substance Abuse Professional. In 1995, she helped found the Certification Board for Professionals in Addiction and Alcoholism of Puerto Rico, Inc. (CBPAA), a non-profit organization that certifies and educates professionals in the addiction field.
